As one of the busiest areas in any facility, your Post-Op Recovery/ICU/Isolation area must be able to handle multiple functions. It is critical that the proper equipment be available in this area. Keep the following in mind when designing and equipping your space:

• Patients and monitoring equipment must be constantly visible to your staff at all times.
• This area should be sterile. Equipment construction and material must stand up to constant disinfecting.
• Quick access of oxygen in this area is essential.
• It is critical to have the right equipment in the right place. Aisles must be kept clean and clear as this is an area where seconds count.
